This standard applies to the aerospace and defense industries and their supply chain.
This list of substances was developed for use by members of the aerospace and defense industries in order to assist in making product and process decisions to support compliance with regulatory requirements, as well as to meet customers and other third party obligations. In addition, this list will assist aerospace industry member companies with managing business risks, such as supply chain disruption.
This Recommended Practice will consist of a list of substances which are of interest to the sector to know whether any of these substances are used within aerospace products or manufacturing processes used to make these products. It is intended to be used in conjunction with ARP9536. SAE thanks Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) and the Aerospace and Defence Industry Association of Europe (ASD) for their cooperation in the planning of this document. This document is being published simultaneously in the U.S. and in Europe. The European version carries the same number and is published by ASD-STAN.
